Prime Macro Lens
A compact prime lens designed for macro photography, the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM from Canon is a 44.8mm-equivalent lens for APS-C-format EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras. Featuring 1.2x maximum magnification and a 9.4cm minimum focusing distance, it offers a unique integrated Macro Lite LED to provide additional illumination to close-up subjects. This light can be configured to illuminate only the right or left side, or both sides, offering you complete creative control. Additionally, the top shape of the lens is narrower than the main lens body, helping to prevent shadows on close-up subjects.
Optically the lens uses one UD element and two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations to produce sharp images with true colour. This is complimented by a Hybrid IS image stabilisation system that works to reduce the effects of camera shake for sharper results when shooting handheld and in low light.
A lead screw-type STM stepping motor ensures autofocus is fast and silent, ideal for capturing both stills and video. Full-time manual focus override is also available, allowing you to easily switch to manual focus control in AF mode for making fine-tuned adjustments. The lens is finished with a lightweight retractable design that makes it ideal for travel and storage. The included lens hood is threaded to accept 43mm filters.
