X-Pro3 (Black) + 56mm f/1.2 R APD
Cropped Mirrorless Camera Body + Short Telephoto Lens Kit
Kitted together here are the X-Pro3 and XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD from Fujifilm.
The Fujifilm X-Pro3 is a X-mount cropped mirrorless camera body with a rangefinder style. Designed for you to capture the unique and interesting perspectives you glimpse in the everyday and during travel, it features competent imaging capabilities for shooting stills as well as 4K video recording at up to 30fps, along with a unique and thoughtful physical design. The back-illuminated APS-C format 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor affords a smooth tonal rendering, improved low-light performance, and a low native 160 ISO setting. Utilising a randomised pixel array, this X-trans sensor omits an optical low-pass filter which helps to achieve a high image quality and sharpness, and produces nuanced colours and tonal transitions. In addition, the sensor design features a faster and more accurate phase-detection autofocus (AF) system with 425 selectable points that cover almost the entire sensor area. An upgraded X-Processor 4 works in conjunction with the sensor to deliver faster, more responsive performance throughout the camera system, and enables an ISO 160-12800 sensitivity range to suit working in a variety of lighting condition. Of note, thanks to an improved algorithm, the X-Pro3 sensor-and-processor pair is capable of autofocus at the minimum luminance of -6EV, which translates to near pitch-darkness. New processing options are available in the X-Pro3. They include: more Film Simulation modes that mimic the look and feel of some of Fujifilm's classic film types; 'Clarity' setting that can be used to adjust local contrast of each image in any film simulation mode; A new 'Large/Small" grain size option is available in the Grain Effect mode to further enhance mimicking of the organic textured look of old film photos. For improved focusing efficiency and accuracy that is handy for a variety of shooting situations, X-Pro3 features the Focus Limiter which enables setting near and far distances for the AF to operate within.
Characteristic of the X-Pro3 is its sophisticated physical design that is aimed at keeping you in the moment. It is a camera that is designed to encourage users to experience the camera like a traditional rangefinder, but with the perks of technological advancements. The X-Pro3's enhanced Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder combines both an optical viewfinder (OVF) and a 3.69m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF); you can easily access a dedicated lever on the front of the camera while looking through the viewfinder to switch between the simple to use and speedy OVF and the accurate and versatile EVF. The X-Pro3 features a 1.62m-dot 180° tilting touchscreen that features a unique fold-down design. Further simulating the rangefinder experience, this unique screen is flushed against the back of the camera when not in use, thus encouraging the unencumbered and undistracted use of the viewfinder during shooting. To help you keep track of the exposure settings, a secondary smaller settings display is available on back of the 3" touchscreen when it is folded away. Alternatively, this sub LCD monitor can display the graphic of the film simulation mode in use. For a lasting experience with the X-Pro3, corrosion-resistant titanium top and base plates are incorporated onto the magnesium alloy body construction. Furthermore, this light and compact camera is weather-resistant, at the ready to capture the moment whatever the weather.
The X-Pro3 features a built-in WI-FI and Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote control of the camera. Dual SD memory card slots are incorporated for file saving flexibility. Also included in the box are a battery, body cap, shoulder strap, USB cable and a 3.5mm microphone adapter.
The accompanying Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD Lens is short telephoto-length prime lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 85mm, making it ideal for portraiture and other applications where a slightly longer-than-normal perspective and flattening appearance is desired. A fast maximum aperture of f/1.2 and APD (apodizing) filter come together to produce sharp main subjects and even smoother bokeh, giving your photographs an overall three-dimensional quality. This effect is furthered by seven rounded diaphragm blades, to produce circular out-of-focus highlights.
Optically the 56mm APD features 11 elements in 8 groups and includes one aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and three cemented elements, for a marked reduction in chromatic aberrations, distortions, and colour fringing throughout the aperture range. An HT-EBC multi-layer coating has also been applied to elements to minimise surface reflections, flare, and ghosting.
The apodization filter performs best at wider aperture values, so a 3-step ND filter is built into the lens to aid in controlling exposure. Using two separate sets of aperture values, the red series of numbers indicates the effective aperture value as it relates to depth of field. The standard white set of numbers indicates the actual f/stop number, and the difference between these two sets of numbers indicates the effectiveness of the filter. When used with an X-series camera that features a Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) function, the lens' performance is enhanced to deliver consistent illumination and sharpness throughout the aperture range.
