Tamron
18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD
Wide-angle to Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon F Cameras
The Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens is a versatile 15x zoom covering wide-angle to telephoto fields of view in a compact form. The lens here is designed for DX-format Nikon F-mounts DSLRs and provides a full-frame equivalent focal length range of 27-405mm. Utilising an advanced optical design that integrates a series of aspherical and low dispersion glass elements to control a variety of aberrations, a high degree of colour accuracy, sharpness, and clarity is maintained throughout the zoom range: one amomalous partial dispersion (AD) elements and two low dispersion (LD) elements are used to greatly reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, while one hybrid aspherical elements and two molded glass aspherical elements are employed to minimise spherical aberrations and distortion. In addition, a Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coating has been applied to lens elements for reducing surface reflections and preventing lens flare and ghosting, thus improving contrast and colour accuracy, especially when working in harsh lighting conditions. Thanks to the Vibration Compensation (VC) image stabilisation incorporated into the lens' design, appearance of camera shake is minimised, and sharper handheld shooting in low-light is supported. This zoom lens employs a piezoelectric drive (PZD) to achieve fast, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance that suits both still and video applications. An added fluorine coating on the front lens element eases maintainence by repelling water, fingerprints and smudges for easier cleaning of the lens surface.
