The AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G from Nikon is a compact and lightweight lens designed for use with DX-format Nikon DSLRs, where 1:1 magnification will allow you to capture stunning extremely close-up macro images. When used with a DX-format body, the lens offers a 60mm equivalent focal length with an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/22, ideal for shooting general close-ups, fine details, copy photography, food photography, portraits, and more.
A Close-Range Correction system ensures image quality is not compromised when working with close angles, and a built in Silent Wave Motor AF system provides smooth, accurate and quiet autofocus operation. It is also easy to switch between auto and manual focus, simply by rotating the lens focus ring. It uses an internal focus system with a minimum focus distance of just 16cm, which equates to approximately 5cm from the front of the lens. A 7-blade diaphragm produces natural-looking background blur, and Nikon's Super Integrated lens coating works to reduce lens flare for improved image colour.
