The EOS 80D from Canon is a fast, versatile digital camera with a user-friendly intuitive design. A 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 image processor allow the 80D to capture high-resolution images at up to 7 fps and Full HD 1080p video at 60 fps in the MP4 format. A 45-point all cross-type AF system ensures fast and accurate focusing and tracking of moving subjects, even when working in low-light. This is further benefited by an expanded sensitivity of up to ISO 25600, for a reduction in noise when working in difficult lighting conditions.
A Dual Pixel CMOS AF system ensures live view shooting and movie recording will feature a smooth and natural focusing quality when changing focus from different subjects or distances within the scene. It is also possible to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed and Face Tracking priority. An HDR Movie mode is also available to achieve greater highlight and shadow detail when working with bright high-contrast scenes. This mode captures two HD frames at different exposures, one normal and one underexposed, in short succession at up to 60 fps and then composites them during playback at 30 fps to create a movie with greater dynamic range.
Use the large swiveling vari-angle 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD to focus with a single touch of the screen, and simply adjust the position of the LCD to easily work from high or low angles. Headphone and microphone jacks are also included for advanced control over audio recording.
Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC is included, allowing you to use the Canon Camera Connect app to pair mobile devices with the camera to wirelessly transfer files for sharing your photos and movies online. Remote shooting from a linked mobile device is also available, allowing you to wirelessly configure exposure settings or release the shutter.
The 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens from Canon is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for use on Canon APS-C size sensors. The 18-55mm focal length is equivalent to 28.8-88mm in 35mm terms.
The STM stepping motor supports Canon's EOS Movie Servo AF feature for smooth and near-silent continuous autofocusing when recording video. An Optical Image Stabiliser minimizes the appearance of camera shake, and optimized lens coatings ensure superb colour reproductions whilst limiting ghosting and flare. A seven-blade aperture design produces pleasing background blur.
